Trust is one of the great foundation stones of any healthy relationship. Let us face it, if you cannot trust your partner what kind of relationship will you have, where will the love and happiness be? Trust is such a fragile thing, you can work for years building up a bond of trust between you two, if one of you makes a mistake that trust could be gone in an instant. If you lose your partners trust the it could take forever and a day to regain it. Far better then to do nothing that will cost you your trust and look instead for ways to strengthen it. There are a number of ways to build trust in a relationship and if you want to succeed you should follow them all.
Predictability is probably not the first thing that would spring to mind until you think about it. Once you have been in your relationship for a while you will both develop your own set patterns and routines. Thanks to these routines your partner can make an educated guess as to what you are doing or where you are at pretty much any time. When all of a sudden you start to vary your routine, with very little explanation then the seed of doubt gets planted.
Your partner was drawn to you, not just because of your looks but because of the unique individual that you are. The experiences that we have in life and the ideas that we are exposed to will change us, this is good because if you do not change you stagnate. If you start to change to quickly so that the changes are apparent then your partner will question what is going on. Just be yourself, do not try to be someone that you are not.
If you say something, such as you love your partner then you need to back up those words with actions. If you do not back up your words with actions then you will reach the stage where you will not be believed. If you say that you will do something then do it, we are only human and sometimes we cannot do the things that we had promised, if that happens to you then take responsibility, explain why and apologize.
One of the best ways to build trust in a relationship is to be completely open and honest with your partner. There is no need or point to lying, either you will be caught out or your body language will give you away. If you cannot be honest or have secrets from your partner then you will start to build walls between you. As these walls could push you apart and possible destroy you relationship, you need to think long and hard before you do anything silly.
Never, ever stop communicating with each other. Communication impacts on just about every aspect of a relationship so if you do not talk, you will not have much of a life. You need to share each others lives, you need to know how each other thinks, and most importantly you need to know your partners wants and needs from the relationship. Talking connects they two of you together, if you do not talk then you have no connection, without a connection you will drift apart. Talking with each other, letting your partner find out who you are builds a strong bond of trust because it means that you have let them into areas where you are vulnerable.
When you were single you had a one person agenda where all your efforts in life where aimed at making things better for yourself. When you are a couple you need to consider what is best for both of you. Instead of doing everything yourself, learn how to work in harmony with your partner, share the chores and deal with any problems together. You need to become familiar with the art of compromise, so that if you have an argument you can deal with it in the way that benefits your relationship the most. Working together helps to build trust and belief in a relationship, when you know that you can rely on the person at your side, then you know that together you can deal with anything.
One of the ways to build trust in a relationship is to trust in yourself and your partner. Unless they give you cause for doubt then trust your partner, if you do not trust them then how do you expect them to trust you? You also need to be able to trust in your judgement that you picked the right person, if you can trust yourself then you know that you are with the right person. It is possible that you have have some unfortunate relationships in the past, if that is the case then keep them there! Your current partner is not your previous partners so judge them on their own merits, not on what has happened to you before.
Can you have a loving relationship with someone that you cannot trust? No. The ways to build trust in a relationship are not vast complex things to follow, they are pretty easy and essentially follow what you do already on a daily basis. The important factor is that you have to want to be trusted, things do not go wrong until you make the conscious decision to step of the straight and narrow. Being only human we make mistakes, you might say something hurtful in the heat of the moment or whatever. Recognize what you have done, show that you can take responsibility for your actions and you will show yourself to be an individual who cares and can be trusted.
