When the time has come to gather up the produce, you need to use an old laundry basket. This laundry basket can be used as a type of strainer for all your produce. If you leave your produce in the basket while rinsing it, the basket will be able to serve as a strainer, with the extra water dripping out the holes in the bottom of the basket.

Organize the chores for your organic garden so they do not pile up. Sometimes it might prove difficult to get in a little gardening time every day. However, you shouldn’t fret, as there are a few things you can do that can minimize the time you spend gardening when you do manage to get to it. You can pull a few weeds when you take your dog outside.

Add small ditches between each row of plants in your garden. Water will flow downward into the valley, where it can be absorbed more quickly by the plants’ root systems. This way, you will save water and money from your water bills.

In an organic garden, ruffle any seedlings with a piece of cardboard, or even your hand, a couple times each day. This may sound strange, but research has proven that doing this will help your plants grow bigger than if they were not petted at all.

Take a look below the surface to get a start. When you are buying seedlings for tomatoes, look at the roots as well as the green parts. Lush green starts will remain on the seedlings and keep them from growing properly until they disappear.

Use peelings from fruit or other left over pieces like apple cores to create your own low cost compost. These items naturally create compost, and this provides great bedding for your garden at almost no cost to you.

Mix one part milk with six parts water and spray this liquid on your plants regularly. This will help restrict powdery mildew, which could end up ruining your plants. The mixture is not hard to store, keep in your fridge for about three weeks. It’s safe for daily use until you have the mildew under control.

Plant your tomatoes in intervals of three weeks, starting from the original strain and they will grow in a more organized structure. Doing this will cause your harvest to come in at differing times, allowing you to gather up the majority of them and cut your losses. If one crop is ruined for some reason, the next one will be healthy.

By now you probably are beginning to understand why so many people enjoy working in their gardens. The activity is fun, relaxing, rewarding and potentially challenging. Using these tips, you can become an excellent organic gardener.
